Though the national unemployment rate continued to fall in November, not all states have experienced the same levels of employment growth.

New data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows unemployment and employment at the state level for the month of November.

Hawaii and Nevada experienced the largest state level gains in employment from October 2020 to October 2021. Growing 10.5 and 7.6 percent respectively. The tourism and hospitality industries had been hit hard by travel restrictions during that time and both of those states rely heavily on those industries. Since then, employment in those industries have substantially recovered.

New York, California, Nevada and new Jersey still have unemployment rates higher than the US average.

In most states around the country, the service sector was the fastest growing industry from November 2020 to November 2021.
